UCL giants considering move for Chelsea defensive rock

Chelsea centre-half Antonio Rudiger is allegedly edging closer to signing for Real Madrid on a free transfer next year.

The 28-year-old star has less than seven months remaining on his existing contract at Stamford Bridge, and discussions to extend his deal with the west London giants have failed to progress.

According to a report by the Independent, Antonio’s brother and entourage Sahr Senesie held talks with officials of Real Madrid over the last several weeks and an ‘informal agreement’ for the player to move to La Liga in 2022 has been reached.

The report continues, by stating that Premier League pair Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have also registered their interest in landing Rudiger; however, the centre-half would prefer a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Los Blancos are keen to recruit a new player at the back in one of the upcoming transfer markets, after failing to replace Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos over the summer.

Rudiger, who is said to be asking for an annual salary of €12 million (£10.2 million) to remain at Stamford Bridge, has made 20 appearances in all competitions for Thomas Tuchel’s side this term, registering two goals and two assists.
