Spanish giants eyeing move for out-of-favour Chelsea defender
Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid are reportedly in talks with Chelsea over a potential loan deal for Marcos Alonso when the transfer window will be re-opened in January.
The 29-year-old full-back has not featured for the Blues since starting the opening three Premier League games of this campaign and has fallen down the pecking order under manager Frank Lampard, who has preferred both Emerson Palmieri and summer arrival Ben Chilwell.
The Independent claims that Diego Simeone is keen on recruiting an attacking left-back next month as he wants five-at-the-back formation this campaign.
Atletico have used both Yannick Carrasco and Renan Lodi as left-sided full-backs this season, however, Simeone would prefer a more natural wing-back and considers the Spaniard as a well-suited option in the same position following his attacking returns.
Los Rojiblancos, who currently sit on top of the La Liga table, believe that they can convince Chelsea defender to join the club in January as he is seeking regular first-team football.
Alonso, who was born in the Madrid came through the youth system at rivals Real Madrid, however, only has one first-team appearance on his name for the club in 2010 before making a move to Bolton Wanderers later that year.
