Spanish giants eyeing move for Chelsea versatile defender

La Liga giants, Barcelona are reportedly in talks with Chelsea full-back Cesar Azpilicueta over a move to Camp Nou.

The Spain international’s current deal with the West London giants is set to expire at the end of June, and the Catalan giants have been heavily linked with the 32-year-old’s services in recent weeks.

As it stands, Spanish full-back is free to hold contract discussions with foreign teams, and according to Spanish journalist Jose Alvarez, the Spaniard is in talks with the Catalan heavyweights over a move to Camp Nou.

Alvarez reports that Xavi’s side have offered a deal until June 2024, with the Blues waiting to learn whether the Spaniard intends to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

Azpilicueta has again been a vital player for the Blues during the 2021-22 season, playing 27 games in all competitions, contributing three assists in the process.

La Liga giants, Barcelona are also believed to be interested in securing the services of Azpilicueta’s teammate Andreas Christensen, with the Denmark international’s deal at Stamford Bridge set to end at the end of the 2021/22 season.
