Real Madrid out-of-favour midfielder emerged as surprise transfer target for Arsenal

Arsenal and Chelsea reportedly remain in the race to secure services of Real Madrid playmaker Isco at some point in 2021.

Having fallen down the pecking order since Zinedine Zidane made a return to Real Madrid, Los Blancos are believed to be open to offers for the Spanish playmaker.

Everton, managed by Isco’s former head-coach Carlo Ancelotti, are regarded as one of the favourties for the Spain international ahead of the winter window.

However, according to El Confidencial, the Arsenal and Chelsea who were previously rumoured with a move Spaniard are ready to challenge Toffes for his services.

With Zidane happy for Isco to depart from the Bernabeu, the report suggests that club officials are now assessing which teams may be able to afford the player.

Real are allegedly prepared to consider offers in the region of £18m and top-class player like Isco could easily settle in any team in the Premier League.

Manchester City head-coach, Pep Guardiola has been known to be a huge admirer of Isco’s playing style and could also try and lure him away from Santiago Bernabeu in the January transfer window.

Chelsea spent big this summers transfer window adding seven new players while Arsenal added only Thomas Partey, Gabriel and Dani Ceballos.
