Real Madrid explosive winger linked with summer move to Liverpool
Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, according to Spanish news outlet Diaro Gol.
The 20-year-old attacker has been missing of late with a hamstring issue. However, prior to that, Rodrygo had played a big part in Los Blancos’ campaign, playing 11 La Liga matches and six times in the Champions League.
The report states that Liverpool are aware of the Brazilian and like him as a player, with the Galacticos open to selling as long as the Anfield side put down around £50 million to try and land him.
Both Madrid and Barcelona are understood to be open to player sales in the summer. The pandemic has ravaged finances, although Zinedine Zidane’s side still harness hopes of signing the likes of Mbappe and Erling Haaland.
Selling the South American could well help fund that move, although the French manager has recently said he still has ex-Santos ace in his plans.
Liverpool are looking for new players in the attack this summer. In spite of defensive issues, there is a worry things have become stale in the final third, meaning a new attacker is almost a certainty.
When bringing in attacking players, the English giants are always likely to want someone who can be versatile and Real Madrid star is that.
He can play both flanks and also drop in as a classic No.10 if needed. That could be crucial for Jurgen Klopp, especially given his system with three attackers and sometimes another joining in.
He is a fine young talent. The only problem is the fee. £50 million seems a lot in the current climate, especially when the Merseyside giants were scraping around for funds in January.
