Prolific Porto forward emerged as surprise transfer target for Man Utd

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a new contract offer for Porto forward Evanilson after having an opening bid turned down by the Portuguese outfit.

The 22-year-old attacker was in stunning form for Porto during the 2021-22 season, founding back of the net 21 times and provided five assists in 46 games in all competitions.

Meanwhile, the South American forward has found the back of the net on 25 occasions in 70 appearances for his current team since making the switch from Tombense in September 2020, in addition to providing five assists.

According to O Jogo, the 20-times English champions recently made an offer of €60m (£51.6m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons for the forward, however, the bid was quickly rejected by Porto, who have no intention to sell in the summer.

However, the report suggests that the Red Devils are now preparing a fresh offer, which is likely to be closer to €80m (£68.8m).

Evanilson managed to found back of the net 14 times and registered four assists in 30 league games during the 2021-22 season, however, he failed to find the back of the net in eight games in the Europa League and Champions League.

The promising forward has made three appearances for Brazil Under-23s but is yet to feature for the senior side.

The Red Devils were strongly linked with Darwin Nunez before the Uruguay international joined Liverpool and Evanilson has been one of their top targets.
