Not Kabak: Liverpool eyeing move for highly-rated Schalke defender
Schalke 04 centre-back Malick Thiaw has reportedly emerged as a surprise transfer target for Liverpool.
With Virgil van Dijk likely to be out for the rest of the season following to a serious knee injury, Jurgen Klopp will consider his options when the transfer window will be re-opened in January.
Although Nathaniel Phillips and Rhys Williams have impressed over the past week, it is unclear whether Jurgen Klopp is prepared to keep the pair as backup on a long-term basis.
According to Bild, the Premier League defending champions may instead look to secure services Schalke prospect Thiaw.
While the 19-year-old has only made seven outings in the senior squad, the youngster is regarded as a possible star of the future.
Thiaw has a deal at the Veltins-Arena until 2024, putting German giants in a good position regarding their valuation.
Meanwhile, Liverpool and Real Madrid are both allegedly interested in securing the services of Valencia starlet Yunus Musah.
The 17-year-old joined Los Che from the Gunners back in the summer of 2019 and has made the step into the first team this season, already playing seven games in Spain’s top-tier.
A recent report suggested that Valencia have offered the England U-18 international a new long-term deal at the Mestalla as his existing contract expires in June 2022.
However, according to the reports in Spain, both Liverpool and Real Madrid have been impressed by the youngster’s progress and are keeping a close tabs on the situation.
