Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have allegedly agreed a deal for the transfer of Manchester United-linked Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele.
The Frenchman has been struggling to agree a fresh contract with Blaugrana for some time, and there has been plenty of transfer gossip linking the player with a possible transfer to the Premier League.
The Magpies now seem to have moved into pole position to land Dembele, in spite of there also being strong interest from the Red Devils recently.
A Spanish media outlet Todo Fichajes state a total agreement is in place for the player to snub a new contract from the La Liga giants and move to the St James’ Park outfit instead.
This should make him one of the first big-name acquisitions of the club’s new era under the wealthy Saudi owners.
Newcastle United recently appointed Eddie Howe as head coach and are now likely to make a splash in the transfer window as soon as possible.
Dembele has not quite been at his best for much of his Camp Nou career, but the 24-year-old would surely still be good enough to make an impression for the struggling Premier League side.
