Man Utd set to make official bid to sign Real Madrid forward
Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly among the teams who are stepping up their efforts to secure the services of Real Madrid attacking midfielder Marco Asensio.
Despite the number of players that are due to depart the Red Devils on free transfers, Erik ten Hag is yet to make his first addition of the summer transfer window, while Liverpool have secured the services of Darwin Nunez.
However, that is allegedly about to change with Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia believed to be on the verge of moving to Old Trafford.
While that addition would represent a boost to the English top-tier, the newly-appointed Ten Hag wants to add further fresh faces to a group of players who struggled at both ends of the pitch the last campaign.
According to Sport, the 20-time English champions and the Merseyside Reds are one of three teams who are ‘pushing’ to win the race for Marco Asensio
With just a year left on his current deal, the 26-year-old attacker is currently deliberating over whether he should leave the Santiago Bernabeu over the coming weeks.
The Spain international is not regarded as the first choice by Carlo Ancelotti, and the move to a new team would come with the demand for first-team football.
Just 19 of his 31 appearances in La Liga during the 2021-22 season came from the first XI, Ancelotti preferring the likes of Federico Valverde and Rodrygo on the right flank.
A report earlier this month reported that Real Madrid officials are ready to demand in the region of £35m for Marco Asensio, although it stays to be seen whether any team will be prepared to meet that valuation.
