Man Utd set to agree loan deal for highly-rated English stopper
Man United could allow shot-stopper Dean Henderson to leave on loan in winter as he bids for the England No.1 jersey. David de Gea has kept his place as Norwegian’s first choice man between the sticks, leaving Dean to contend with a role on the bench despite excelling during a temporary switch at Sheffield United last campaign.
England international will be keen on staking a claim to be Gareth Southgate’s pick at next summer’s Euro 2021 over Jordan Pickford, but he will need regular football, which could force the Red Devils to sanction a loan deal.
Fellow shot-stopper Sergio Romero is also keen on leaving in winter after being left out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squads, but the Red Devils have blocked a move and will put any departure on ice until they have finalised a plan for Henderson, the report adds.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper came close to a move to David Beckham’s MLS franchise Inter Miami, but the deal fell through and was also left frustrated when a transfer to the Merseyside club failed to materialise.
The Argentine goalkeeper was upset with how he was treated by the Red Devils and is said to be training alone, but he could be forced to stay until the summer should Dean depart, with the Norwegian boss keen to have more options.
Many supporters and pundits had tipped Dean to become No.1 shot-stopper for both Man United and England after catching the eye on loan at Bramall Lane last campaign. Chris Wilder’s side would be the leading favourites to secure him once again after sinking to the foot of the PL table.
