Man Utd legendary manager wants 24-goals forward to stay at Old Trafford
Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly privately urging Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Manchester United in spite of the club’s woeful campaign.
The Red Devils delivered another lacklustre showing on Saturday as the team were hammered 4-0 by Graham Potter’s Brighton, meaning that this will be the club’s worst-ever points tally in a Premier League season.
Ronaldo has netted 24 goals in 34 matches in his first term back at the Theatre of Dreams, but the living legend has faced criticism over his displays and has been accused of not doing enough to support his side’s attack.
The 37-year-old cut a frustrated figure once again in the recent defeat to the Seagulls and was even spotted laughing after United conceded their third goal in the second half.
Cristiano signed an initial two-year deal last August and has the options for an extra 12 months, but the striker is already considering his long-term future.
According to the Sunday Mirror, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and the legendary manager have met each other at their homes on multiple occasions this season and in spite of United’s struggles, it’s said that the Scot has told his ex-player to see out his deal with United.
