Man Utd in talks to agree new deal for South American No.7 forward
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed discussions are set to begin with striker Edinson Cavani regarding his Manchester United future.
The Red Devils boss Solskjaer is keen for the Uruguayan star to extend his stay at United after a fine start to life at the club.
Edinson has banged in six goals in just eight top-flight starts and his overall impact has been heavily praised.
The 34-year-old attacker signed a one-year contract with the option for an extra 12 months and Solskjaer confirmed the two sides will be sitting down in the coming weeks to hammer out Edinson’s future.
‘I can only say Edinson has done well for us, I’ve been impressed with him and he’s gelled really well with the group,’ Ole said.
‘We’ll sit down with him and speak with him in the near future, of course, to see his plans and our plans.
‘You always speak to your players and with his contract situation, we’re very pleased with what he’s done.’
Cavani missed his side’s 4-0 thrashing of Real Sociedad in midweek because of a muscle injury and United’s focus will now return to the Premier League.
Elsewhere, Bayern Munich forward and Manchester United target Kingsley Coman wants to stay in Bavaria this summer, according to a recent report.
He has just under two-and-a-half years left to run on his current contract with Hansi Flick’s team, but a recent report stated that Manchester United are willing to double his wages if he elects to transfer to Old Trafford.
However, Sky Sports News reports that Kingsley expects to stay with Die Roten for the 2021-22 campaign, but no discussions have taken place over a potential extension yet.
