Man Utd in danger to miss out signing of Dortmund prolific forward

Manchester City are allegedly very much in the hunt for Borussia Dortmund forward and Manchester United target Erling Braut Haaland.

Pep Guardiola’s outfit are expected to be in the market for a big-name forward next summer with Sergio Aguero’s deal at the Etihad Stadium due to come to an end.

Erling’s future remains the subject of speculation, with the Red Devils and Real Madrid both allegedly determined to land him over the next couple of years.

However, according to Eurosport, the Citizens view the Norway international as ‘a genuine target’ and could contact BVB at the start of 2021 to officially declare their interest.

Haaland has been in brilliant form for BVB since arriving from Red Bull Salzburg in January, netting 27 times in 29 appearances for the Bundesliga giants across all competitions.

The 20-year-old, who has managed 11 goals in 11 matches at club level during the 2020-21 term, is contracted to Lucien Favre’s side until June 2024.

It is worth mentioning that the Red Devils thought they had secured his signature in the January transfer market when leaving RB Salzburg before deciding to join the German club.

Reports stated United chief Ed Woodward pulled out of the deal because of agent sums and the insistence on including an exit clause.

Elsewhere, Manchester United’s Paul Pogba has described this campaign as the most difficult of his career thus far after losing his place in the team.

‘I had never known such a difficult period in my career,’ the World Cup winner told RTL France on Sunday.

‘The French national team is a breath of fresh air. We are very happy to come here and all very happy to see each other again.

‘It is not the same as with the club. We all group together, it is magical. We realise that everyone is happy to come and that makes a difference.’
