Man Utd in danger to miss out signing of Brest starlet
Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keeping tabs on Brest’s Romain Faivre after a string of impressive displays in Ligue 1 this term.
The 22-year-old midfielder signed for Brest from Monaco in the summer of 2020 for a fee of around £400,000 after failing to make much of an impression at the club.
It appears that it was a stunning shrewd bit of business from Brest, though, with Romain making 19 Ligue 1 appearances this season, netting four goals and catching the eye of European sides.
His form also saw him called up to his country’s Under-21 side this season, earning four caps and netting two goals so far.
Faivre is predominantly a left wide attacker, but can play on either wing and has also been used more as a forward as well.
French publication Le 10 Sport claim that ‘hordes of clubs’ are monitoring Romain, given his current form, but specifically name the Red Devils and the Parisians as holding an interest in him.
He is under contract at Stade Louis II until 2024, but the likes of United and PSG wouldn’t find it difficult to tempt the player away from Brest and offer his side a huge profit on their tiny outlay for the player.
Brest are currently 11th in Ligue 1 and don’t compete in European competition.
United are not expected to be busy with landing players this month, with outgoings more likely than incomings at the club.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been open about wanting to get rid of Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero this month, with their deals expiring in the summer.
‘Both of them have contracts until the summer and they’re not going to be extended. We’re looking for them to find clubs.’ Ole said on Friday.
