Man Utd eyeing move for 26-year-old Bundesliga winning midfielder

Manchester United will reportedly press ahead with a summer move for Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka if midfielder Paul Pogba forces the club’s hand by forcing through a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

He has 12 months remaining on his contract at Old Trafford and discussions over an extension have been slow, with the Frenchman revealing before the Euro 2020 that a ‘concrete’ proposal hadn’t been submitted.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to keep the Frenchman but United won’t break their wage structure to do so, especially at such a time when the club’s finances are vulnerable because of the pandemic.

Paris Saint-Germain have been alerted to Paul’s situation and they are willing to put up cash for the player this summer in order to avoid the hunt to sign him on a free transfer next summer.

While the Red Devils would rather not sell, Paul remains one of their most valuable players and the club could not afford to let him walk away for nothing in 12 months’ time.

Under those circumstances, the board will be prepared to sell and the Sun report Solskjaer has identified Die Roten man as Pogba’s replacement.

The Germany international’s situation at the Allianz Arena outfit is similar to the former Juventus ace’s at Old Trafford as he too has one year to run on his deal at the club.
