Man Utd 28-year-old versatile midfielder set to snub new contract offer
Jesse Lingard has reportedly turned down a chance to extend his stay at Manchester United.
The England international was heavily linked with a permanent switch to West Ham United over the summer after scoring nine goals and setting up five more in 16 games during last campaigns impressive loan spell.
However, a return to the London Stadium did not materialise for Jessie Lingard, who must now attempt to compete with Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo for spots in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s offensive end.
The 28-year-old has now entered the final year of his contract with the Red Devils, and according to BBC Sport, he has turned down the team’s offer of a new deal.
The report adds that Jessie Lingard is concerned about his prospects of regular first-team minutes with Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho now in the fold, and he will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with teams elsewhere come January.
The forward has only played four minutes of Premier League football so far this season, while he has found back of the net twice and set up another in England’s 4-0 win of Andorra at the weekend.
