Man United started negotiations with Valencia midfielder Uros Racic
Man United are targeting Valencia player Uros Racic, according to reports. The Norwegian manager has already bolstered his midfield options with the £40m signing of Donny van de Beek from Ajax this summer. But Red Devils have also been linked with a move for Thiago Alcantara, with Bavarians demanding a €30m transfer fee for the 29-year-old midfielder.
Red Devils, however, have been put off by Spain international’s wage demands, which are in excess of £200,000-a-week. Red Devils have now turned their attention to U21 Serbia international. Uros has played only two games for the Spanish club and has spent the last two campaign on loan at Tenerife and then at Portuguese club Famalicao.
Racic has a £92m release clause in his deal with Valencia but an offer of £28m from Red Devils could be enough to add him. The 22-year-old midfielder, who is yet to be capped by the senior side, stands at 6ft 4in and offers a powerful presence in midfield.
Red Devils have been keeping tabs on the Serbian midfielder’s displays and the footballer could provide a contest for Nemanja Matic in the Norwegian manager’s midfield.
Meanwhile, Red Devils hopes of signing Jadon Sancho before the transfer window closes on October 5 continue to fade as Borussia Dortmund remain adamant that the winger will not be leaving.
Red Devils could now turn to a loan deal for Gareth Bale, with Real Madrid keen for the 31-year-old winger to leave the club. Reports have suggested that Wales international would be open to joining Red Devils, although Bale’s £600,000-a-week salary could prove to be a stumbling block as Los Blancos would need to fund part of his wages.
