Liverpool supporters have been crying out for a player in the midfield to be signed. The Anfield side elected against replacing Georginio Wijnaldum over the summer and the final decision was seen as a risk by plenty of fans.

Rumours Liverpool target Jude Bellingham is reportedly available for over £85 million. The deal to land Virgil van Dijk shows the Merseyside giants will splash out when they need to.

Last campaign Liverpool sold the Croatian star Dejan Lovren and decided not to bring in a replacement.

The club was optimistic about the fitness of the senior centre-halves, a gamble which backfired within weeks.

As a result, the definite decision not to replace the perpetually available Netherlands international has raised eyebrows in some quarters.

Harvey Elliott impressed but the Englishman is unlikely to feature for his team again until towards the end of the campaign.

There is one talented midfielder every elite club in Europe wants and the Daily Star recently stated Liverpool hold an interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

A German publication Bild has taken issue with the transfer price quoted by the Star.

The British source stated that the Premier League giants are preparing a bid of around £80 million.

However, the German outlet believes it’d take an offer over €100 million (around £85 million).
