Liverpool told to make €40m bid to sign Portuguese star

Liverpool will have to fork out €40 million to sign Porto midfielder Vitinha, according to a fresh report by the Spanish outlet Defensa Central.

The star is the subject of interest from the Reds and Real Madrid over a potential move in the summer transfer market.

He has risen to prominence since returning to Dragoes from his season-long loan spell with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The transfer to the Premier League hadn’t worked out, but the 22-year-old star has established himself as an important figure for the Primeira Liga giants in the ongoing campaign.

Vitinha has turned out 38 times in all competitions for his side this season, contributing three goals and three assists thus far.

His exploits haven’t gone unnoticed, with a couple of elite clubs in Europe setting their sights on the player, including Jurgen Klopp’s side.

They chose not to snap up a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum last year, instead promoting Harvey Elliott as a senior team regular.

But with the Englishman James Milner in the twilight of his senior career, the club have to enter the market for a long-term replacement, which is why they have switched their attention towards the Portuguese.
