Liverpool still interested in signing of Real Madrid forward

The Merseyside giants have set their sights on Vinicius Jr. over a potential move in the summer transfer window. Real Madrid are willing to part ways with Brazil international but will insist on including a buyback clause, similar to the one in Sergio Reguilon’s deal with Tottenham Hotspur.

Brazil international joined the Los Blancos from boyhood club Flamengo in the summer of 2018, becoming one of many teenagers to make their way to the club as Florentino Perez sought to lay down the foundations for the next generation of superstars donning the famous white jersey.

Since then, Vinicius has been a regular in the first-team squad, experiencing varying degrees of success. In the ongoing season, the 20-year-old forward has struggled quite a bit, with just 3 goals and as many assists in 26 games across all tournaments.

His inconsistencies have reportedly left Los Blancos frustrated, with La Liga giants set to cash in on Vinicius, so as to also help fund a move for priority target Kylian Mbappe. And, the Reds are hoping to pounce on the situation.

On their part, Real Madrid are also reciprocating on Liverpool’s interest in the Brazilian and are open to the prospect of letting him leave, as it could potentially help them fund a move for Kylian Mbappe.

And, to protect their future interests in the player, Real Madrid would ask for a buyback clause in his deal, just as they did with Sergio Reguilon when he joined Tottenham.

It now stays to be seen if the Reds do end up heeding Jurgen Klopp’s wish and land the Brazilian winger, or if the talented forward ends up staying put at Real Madrid and fight for his place in the side.
