Liverpool key players could sign new contracts before the season ends
Liverpool are reportedly looking to tie four of their vital players down to new long-term deal, with a view to strengthening their team this summer.
The Merseyside Reds are now resigned to losing playmaker Georginio Wijnaldum this summer as he prepares to depart from the club on a free transfer when his contract ends, however, Jurgen Klopp’s side want to ensure that they are protected from similar incidences happening going forward.
According to The Times, Jurgen Klopp’s side are planning to hold talks with Mohamed Salah, Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk and Brazilian midfielder Fabinho over extending their current contracts.
Salah is the first player that the Reds are keen to tie down to a new contract, amid recent rumours linking the attacker with a move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Talks with the Egyptian over a new deal are believed to be in the pipeline, however, the Merseyside Reds do have time on their side, as Salah’s current deal does not end until June 2023.
The other three players were signed by the Merseyside Reds back in 2018, with the contracts of van Dijk and Fabinho expiring in the same year as Salah’s in 2023, while Alisson’s contract expires next season.
Any contract talks regarding other key players such as the Mersyeside Reds skipper Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are likely to be hold next season.
