Liverpool keen on to sign Serie A No.8 midfielder
Liverpool are allegedly plotting a swoop for Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz in the summer transfer window of 2022.
The Reds didn’t properly replace the Netherlands international Georginio Wijnaldum in the most recent transfer market and have seen their midfield depleted by injuries to Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, James Milner and Harvey Elliott throughout the campaign.
I Partenopei man was strongly linked with a move elsewhere over the summer amid rumoured interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City, but a transfer away from Naples didn’t materialise.
Now, Fichajes states that Liverpool are interested in signing Ruiz ahead of the 2022-23 term, with Los Blancos and Barcelona put off by Aurelio De Laurentiis’ club’s asking price.
The 25-year-old star has entered the final two years of his contract with the Serie A high-flyers, but the side were thought to be demanding €60 million (£51.1 million) to sanction a sale in the summer.
Fabian boasts five goals and two assists from 15 top-flight appearances this season but missed last weekend’s 3-2 defeat to Atalanta BC because of muscular fatigue.
Elsewhere, Liverpool are allegedly interested in landing Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos.
According to a report from El Nacional, the Reds chief has had conversations with the German over a deal to bring the player to Anfield.
