Liverpool joined the race for Serie A No.4 defender
Liverpool and Man Utd may reportedly decide against making an approach for Serie A outfits Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic.
With just under 15 months left on his current deal, Serie A outfits are believed to be open to selling the Serbia international defender when the transfer window will be re-opened.
A number of Premier League tea,s, including the two North-West heavyweights, have been credited with a strong interest in the 23-year-old.
However, Corriere Fiorentino reports that Liverpool and Man Utd are now having second thoughts over whether to bring in the player.
The report claims that Milenkovic’s poor form for his country against Portugal during the March international break could count against him.
Milenkovic was also part of the defensive end which conceded twice versus out-of-form Republic of Ireland in the previous game.
Liverpool and Man United have been in the market for defensive reinforcement and alongside with Nikola Milenkovic they are keeping tabs on another Serie A defender, Kalidou Koilibaly who has been destined to depart from Stadio Sao Paolo in the summer and Premier League thought to be his favoured destination, however, Champions League spot could play a vital role for African defender’s decision whether to join the Red Devils or the Merseyside Reds.
