Liverpool in danger to miss out signing of creative Barcelona midfielder
Barcelona star Pedri fully intends to sign a fresh contract at the Camp Nou and reject interest from elsewhere, according to a recent report.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is likely to be the person most disappointed with the news. The German tactician has been keeping a close eye on the 18-year-old, reportedly since 2019.
Mundo Deportivo recently stated that Liverpool were once again targeting the player, whose contract situation in at the club is not cut and dried.
OK Diario’s Eduardo Inda then was a guest on El Chiringuitoto and stated the Reds were plotting an ambitious swoop for Pedri.
Now Mundo report that the Spaniard, whose Blaugrana deal is due to expire next year, is fully focused on his club.
Ronald Koeman’s side can trigger a two-year option until the summer of 2024. But, as per Mundo, the Catalans are not keen to do that considering the ace’s superb progress.
Instead, they’re hoping to tie the youngster to a fresh lucrative, long-term deal and the midfielder wants to pledge his long-term future to the club.
Pedri only arrived in the summer of 2020 for €5 million from Las Palmas, but he was an important player for Barcelona during the 2020-21 campaign.
The talent made a staggering 52 appearances across all competitions and contributed four goals and six assists.
