Liverpool eyeing move for versatile Napoli midfielder

Speaking on Marte Sport Live, as cited by Area Napoli, Corriere del Mezzogiorno’s Ciro Troise has claimed that Liverpool and Manchester United have spoken to the agent of Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski over a potential transfer.

A starter for the Poland national team, the star has 63 caps for the team. Able to do the job in several roles in the middle of the park, Piotr has been linked with a transfer to the Premier League in the past.

And the club seem to have resurfaced yet again, with the Reds and the Red Devils seemingly showing an interest in the player.

The Anfield side’s need for a new player in the midfield stems from the fact that Georginio Wijnaldum quit the club upon the expiry of his deal earlier this summer.

Furthermore, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita have been blighted by injuries and lack of form.

In addition to that, the latest reports have claimed that captain Jordan Henderson is also looking at an uncertain Anfield future.

And even though that is not likely to lead to anything, Jurgen Klopp & co. would be better off signing a new midfielder, with Piotr emerging as a viable target for the Merseyside giants along with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Confirming the same, Italian journalist Ciro Troise said: “Zielinski? His entourage has I got a couple of calls from Liverpool and Manchester United.”
