Liverpool boss wanted to sign Barcelona winger this summer
Liverpool head-coach Jurgen Klopp was reportedly “convinced” that his team would complete a loan deal for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele during the current transfer window.
The France international’s future has been the subject of much speculation in the recent months, however, it seems that new head-coach Roland Koeman has face in Frenchman and plans to keep him at Nou Camp.
The Merseyside Reds allegedly made contact with Spanish giants over the possibility of taking the 2018 World Cup winning forward on loan for the 2020-21 season, with the deal potentially including a buyout option.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Klopp was “convinced” that Liverpool would agree loan deal for Barcelona winger.
However, the 23-year-old forward has made it clear that he is not interested in a move away from Ronald Koeman’s team while Dutch boss also plans to start him for the current season.
The 23-year-old has not played a competitive games since last November due to hamstring issues, while he only played five La Liga games during the 2019-20 season.
Manchester United have also been credited with strong interest for France international forward as they have considered him as an alternative to Jadon Sancho.
