La Liga No.19 forward emerged as surprise transfer target for Arsenal

Real Sociedad and Sweden forward Alexander Isak could still allegedly move to the Premier League, in spite of only recently signing a new deal.

Those who weren’t aware of Isak and the talent he possesses before Euro 2020 were up to speed by the time the competition finished.

Though his country had a relatively unsuccessful tournament all told, Alexander’s performances were a notable highlight.

His good showings did not go unnoticed, either, with Cadena SER stating that Arsenal made contact with his entourage over the possibility of a transfer.

However, the transfer never came to fruition, with Isak penning a new contract with Real Sociedad in the summer, which appeared to end any doubt regarding his future.

That said, Fichajes have now stated that Isak could still move to England, were a club to be ready to pay his €90m (£77m) release clause.

The report adds that the contract extension served to remove a buyback option Borussia Dortmund held and to increase the ace’s release clause from €70m to €90m.

If a Premier League outfit were to show interest in landing the 21-year-old and had the necessary cash to pay his buy-out clause, he could plausibly depart La Real.

It remains to be seen if Mikel Arteta’s side would be prepared to pay that hefty fee, but their frontline could surely do with a little refreshment.
