Juventus hijacked Arsenal move for 16-goals Serie A forward

Arsenal’s pursuit of Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic is over after the Serie A giants Juventus agreed a €67 million (£56 million) deal to land the Serbian.

Mikel Arteta had earmarked the 21-year-old as his number one target to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whose long-term future at the club appears to be over after he was stripped of the Gunners captaincy.

The club submitted a £50.1 million bid for the attacker earlier this month and offered loanee Lucas Torreira in part-exchange.

However, his desire was to remain in Serie A and Manchester City was his preferred destination if he was to leave Italy.

But Dusan has got his wish of remaining in the county, with transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that I Bianconeri have agreed a €67 million (£56 million) deal for him.

While some minor details are still to be ironed out, the Old Lady have agreed the fee with La Viola and expect the player to put pen to paper on a four-year contract later this week.

The north Londoners are now exploring alternative options, with Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak a potential target.

Real Madrid have offered outcast Luka Jovic to the Gunners but it is unclear if Mikel would sanction a deal for Vlahovic’s compatriot.

Arsenal have failed to net in the last four games, underlining the side’s need to snap up a new centre forward.
