Italian giants eyeing move for Arsenal box-to-box midfielder

Serie A outfit AS Roma are reportedly in talks to secure the services of Arsenal anchorman Granit Xhaka this summer.

Former Tottenham Hotspur head-coach Jose Mourinho is looking to strengthen his team ahead of the new campaign and has identified the 28-year-old as a potential target.

According to Sky Sports News, the North London club value Xhaka at around £21.5m, but, AS Roma are only willing to pay up to £10m plus bonuses.

The Swiss international came close to leaving the Emirates and joining Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin back in January 2020, however, the playmaker decided to remain in north London.

The Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta would consider letting Xhaka depart this summer, as the club are looking to generate funds from player sales in order to recruit new additions.

Xhaka has played 220 games for the Gunners during a five-year spell, including 45 appearances across all competitions this season.

Meanwhile, Norwich City are reportedly prepared to let their star player Emiliano Buendia depart from the club amid persistent links with a move to Arsenal.

The Argentinian playmaker is set for another stint in the Premier League with Norwich during the 2021-22 season, as his 15 league goals and 17 assists helped the Canaries to secure the Championship title.
