Inter Milan keen on to sign Chelsea full-back

Inter Milan remain interested in signing Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso this summer, but they face stern competition from Barcelona, the Sunday People report.

The 30-year-old star could be allowed to leave the club this summer. He does have a deal until June 2023 at the London-based outfit but is available for around £7 million.

The Nerazzurri are prioritising a deal for the Spaniard, with Achraf Hakimi set to sign for Paris Saint-Germain. Barcelona are interested in strengthening though and also fancy the Spaniard.

Alonso has been at the club for five years. In 166 appearances, the star has found the net 24 times and grabbed 17 assists.

He has fallen down the pecking order under the German and was an unused substitute in the Champions League Final.

At £7 million, Chelsea will not recoup a fortune on the player. They’d, however, get £100,000 per week off their wage budget if he were to depart.

Ben Chilwell’s prominence has bumped Marcos down the pecking order and as a result, now seems a good time to let him leave.

At 30 he’ll slowly begin to decline in the coming years and the board would be better off getting a younger player in as a backup to Ben.

Alonso has not been a bad player for Chelsea down the years. The time is right to offload the former Fiorentina ace though and both Inter Milan and Barcelona would provide him with attractive propositions.
