Inter Milan in pole position to sign Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri
Inter Milan may not be alone in courting Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri according to a report in Italy. Nerazzurri are currently in the lead for the ex-Roma wing-back but Bianconeri could also come in for him in the event that Mattia De Sciglio is sold. Emerson has a deal with Blues until 2022 and multiple reports have stated that he could cost in the region of €25-30m.
Old Lady have recently shown an interest in signing Brazilian born Italian national team footballer Palmieri and with the right transfer formula, perhaps a loan with an obligation to buy deal, they could certainly make themselves known in the battle to add him.
Italy international has found himself sliding down the pecking order at the London club and has not featured in either of the matches this campaign. The 26-year-old defender was limited to only 21 games across all tournaments the last campaign, in which he provided a single assist.
It could be the case that things take off with regard to the ex-Roma footballer in the final 10 days of the transfer market and the Nerazzurri could add him in a loan with an option to buy a deal from PL Chelsea.
Nerazzurri have been linked with making a move for Palmieri for several weeks and months now with many reports suggesting that Inter boss Antonio Conte would like to work with him again. During the 2019/20 campaign, Palmieri played 21 games across all tournaments. In only over 1500 minutes on the park, Emerson provided a single assist for his teammates.
