Injury Blow: Man Utd key man set to miss start of the next season
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is set to undergo surgery which could rule him out of the start of the 2021-22 campaign, according to a report.
The England international attacker endured a taxing campaign with the 20-times English champions last term, playing 57 games in all competitions and suffering several bumps and bruises along the way.
Rashford is believed to play a prominent role in England’s Euro 2020 season, however, according to The Mirror, he has been playing through shoulder and foot pain for a large chunk of the campaign.
As a result, the 23-year-old is supposedly set to go under the knife to address the issue, and depending on how far England make it in Euros, he may be forced to miss the start of the 2021/22 Premier League season.
Should England make it to the final on July 11, Rashford would have just over a month to recover before the 2021-22 PL gets underway, however, the forward would need ample time to recuperate and build up his match fitness.
Rashford’s teammate Mason Greenwood has already withdrawn from Gareth Southgate’s Euros squad amid his own fitness concerns, while Trent Alexander-Arnold will play no part after sustaining a thigh injury against Austria
