Fiorentina defender emerged as surprise transfer target for Man Utd

Tottenham Hotspur and Man Utd are both reportedly interested in securing the services of Fiorentina defender, Nikola Milenkovic when the transfer window will be re-opened in January.

The 23-year-old centre-back will see his existing contract expire at the end of the 2021-22 season, and there was a host of rumours surrounding his future over the summer.

Fiorentina defender has again been a vital player for his Italian team this season- making seven games in all competitions – however, La Viola could be forced into a sale unless they can commit him to a new deal.

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham and Manchester United have both been in touch with Milenkovic’s agents to signal that they are prepared to offer the centre-back an ‘important contract’ in January.

The 23-year-old defender has already made over 100 games for Fiorentina in all competitions, while he has been capped on 23 times by the Serbian national team.

West Ham United were rumoured with securing his services during the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have reportedly ruled out a move for Serie A giants, AC Milan attacker, Hakan Calhanoglu in the winter transfer window.

The 20-times English champions are believed to have been tracking the Turkey international forward with a view to making an offer at the turn of the year.

Calhanoglu is out of deal at San Siro next summer and AC Milan are keen to cash in before he is allowed to depart from the club for free.
