€90m-rated midfielder set to pen long-term contract with Man United

Bruno Fernandes is ready to sign a new five-year deal at Man United worth more than £250,000-a-week, with the playmaker convinced to pen new terms after Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival and the Old Trafford’s acceptable transfer window.

Portugal international has been locked in negotiations with Man United for several months about extending his current contract at Theatre of Dreams.

Fernandes has quickly established himself as one of the Red Devils’ most valuable footballers following his £60m move from Sporting Lisbon in winter 2020, scoring 44 goals in 85 matches for the PL club.

The fact Bruno had not put pen to paper on a new deal was beginning to concern Man United, particularly as Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona had expressed interest in securing his signature.

But the 27-year-old midfielder is on the verge of committing his long-term future to Man United, with his new five-year contract possibly announced before the end of the month after successful negotiations.

It is claimed the Portuguese midfielder was convinced to remain at Theatre of Dreams following Man United’s impressive summer transfer window in which they re-signed his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo and brought world-class footballers Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho to Man United.

Bruno will still be behind Cristiano Ronaldo, David de Gea and Paul Pogba in the wage order at Man United, but his fantastic form has earned him a pay rise and another year added to his deal, with the possibility of another 12 months added on in 2026.
