Chelsea versatile defender linked with surprise move to AC Milan
Serie A giants AC Milan are allegedly interested in landing Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen in the winter transfer window.
I Rossoneri are on the observation post for defensive reinforcements after experienced centre-half Simon Kjaer underwent knee ligament surgery a few days ago and will miss the rest of the campaign.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Milan’s senior figure Paolo Maldini has identified Christensen as a possible target for either a loan or permanent transfer to the San Siro outfit.
The report also says that fellow Chelsea centre-half Malang Sarr, Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic and Lille’s Sven Botman are also on their shortlist for the January transfer market.
The Italian side have a recent history of prising players away from Stamford Bridge, with Fikayo Tomori, Olivier Giroud and Tiemoue Bakayoko all now plying their trade with AC Milan.
The 25-year-old Andreas who will see his current deal expire next summer has made 142 appearances for the Premier League giants across all competitions, including 15 this season.
Elsewhere, Chelsea have allegedly been handed a huge injury boost with defender Trevoh Chalobah.
The 22-year-old star only played an hour of last week’s win over Watford before picking up a hamstring issue.
Trevoh was first feared to be facing a lengthy stint out of action with the issue, but The Athletic states that he’s hoping to return to first-team action next week.
