Chelsea starlet open to leave club this summer
Chelsea wonderkid Billy Gilmour is reportedly hoping to secure a loan move away from the team in order to reignite his career.
The Scotland international endured a frustrating 2020-21 campaign with the West London club, as a knee injury ruled him out for the first few months of the season, and he featured just three times in the English top-tier under Thomas Tuchel.
Gilmour played the full 90 minutes in the win over Man City and Fulham, however, he only played a bit-part role throughout the season and did not play a single minute in any of their Champions League knockout games en route to the trophy.
According to The Sun, Gilmour is keen to gain experience elsewhere next campaign in a bid to kickstart an upturn in fortunes.
The report claims that Gilmour is hoping to follow in the footsteps of another academy graduate Mason Mount, who spent time on loan at Vitesse and Derby County before becoming one of the key players for the Blues.
Despite his disrupted 2020-21 season, Gilmour has been included in Scotland’s Euro 2020 team and won his first two caps in friendlies with the Netherlands and Luxembourg earlier this month.
