Chelsea midfielder linked with summer move to Liverpool

Chelsea are reportedly becoming increasingly concerned that Mason Mount could depart from the club and sign for direct Premier League rivals Liverpool or Manchester City.

The 23-year-old English midfielder has been a key player for the West London club during the 2021-22 season, founding back of the net 12 times and provided 15 assists in 49 games in all competitions.

Mount has managed to found back of the net 10 times and provided nine assists in 29 Premier League games, meanwhile, having been a vital player for Thomas Tuchel’s side during the current campaign.

The England international only has little over two years left to run on his current deal at Stamford Bridge, though, and according to The Sun, he is one of the lowest-paid players at the club on £70,000 per week.

The report suggests that the Blues are fearful that their off-the-field problems surrounding ownership of the team could lead to them losing the playmaker to either Liverpool or Manchester City.

Sanctions placed on current West London club owner Roman Abramovich are preventing the team from approaching Mount over a new deal at this moment in time.

Both Man City and Liverpool are believed to be keeping a close eye on the situation, with the PL duo ready to make a move if it becomes clear that the forward is frustrated in the English capital.
