Chelsea in pole position to sign 21-year-old Ligue 1 midfielder
Chelsea have reportedly retained a strong interest in securing the services of AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
The West London club are one of a number of top European teams who have been credited as fans of the France international over the past 12 months.
Before they eventually secured a contract for Atletico Madrid’s playmaker Saul Niguez, there was talk of a big-money move for the 21-year-old.
However, according to The Athletic, the Blues felt that Tchouameni would benefit from a further campaign representing Monaco in Ligue 1.
The central midfielder has played 42 times in all competitions during 2020-21 season, the first time that he has featured on more than 19 times in a single season.
The Red Devils are also believed to be keeping tabs the situation ahead of potentially making an approach during 2022.
Meanwhile, Chelsea may reportedly pursue a deal for Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane during one of the upcoming transfer windows.
The 25-year-old midfielder has endured a mixed opening 14 months at the Allianz Arena, with 19 of his 49 games coming from the substitutes’ bench.
His lack of regular first-team minutes has led to rumours that the Germany international is playing for his future at the Bundesliga giants.
A report in The Express claims that the Blues could be open to putting together a proposal which includes offering one of their players in part-exchange.
