Chelsea in advanced talks with Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy
Chelsea are set to raise the stakes in order to sign the shot-stopper, while several footballers are ready to leave Chelsea on loan. The London club are pushing to completing a deal that will see Rennes shot-stopper Edouard Mendy.
The FA Cup finalists recently tabled an offer to the Breton side for €20m but found the Ligue 1 club stubborn in their resistance to letting their No.1 depart for such a fee. With a desire to complete an agreement this week, they are willing to push for any fee up to €28m including add-ons in order to reach a deal.
Chelsea have been following the goalkeeper for an extended period and were also linked with Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan for the role. Senegal international spent last campaign in excellent form for the Breton side and helped them qualify for the UCL for the first time after a third-place finish in Ligue 1.
However, they have continued to negotiate with the French club, who qualified for the UCL after finishing third in Ligue 1 last campaign, and are close to reaching a deal with Rennes over a deal for the African shot-stopper.
Frank Lampard has already signed Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Malang Sarr, Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva this summer. English manager has been backed by Roman Abramovich, Blues owner, and still wants to bring in defenders. West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice is high on Frank Lampard’s list.
