Chelsea forward in talks to sign for Serie A giants

AS Roma director Tiago Pinto reportedly met with the agents of Chelsea centre-forward Olivier Giroud on Friday to discuss a possible switch to Serie A in the summer.

Giroud has managed to found back of the net 11 times in 24 games for the West London club during the 2020-21 season, however, the Frenchman’s current contract at Stamford Bridge is set to expire at the end of June and he is likely to be on his way out from the London giants with both Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner thought to be in the future plans of Thomas Tuchel.

Talks over a possible extension have not yet begun, and the 34-year-old striker is currently free to hold talks with foreign teams over a potential transfer at the end of his deal.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, players agents met with AS Roma director Pinto on Friday to discuss the possibility of a switch to Italy and now Italian giants are frountrunners to lure Frenchman in Serie A next season.

Giroud has scored 39 goals and registered 14 assists in 112 games for the West London club since making the move from direct PL Arsenal in the middle of the 2017-18 season.

Inter Milan have also previously been credited with an interest in the World Cup winning forward.
