Chelsea eyeing move prolific Porto defender
Chelsea are allegedly keen to sign Porto star Jesus Corona in the early stages of this summer’s transfer market.
The 28-year-old Mexican has been in impressive form for his Portuguese side during the 2020-21 campaign, netting three times and contributing 11 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.
Corona’s existing contract with Porto is due to expire next year, and there is believed to be a £21m buy-out clause in the agreement.
The release fee is only thought to be active until June, though, and according to a recent report from O Jogo, Chelsea are keen to bring the player to Stamford Bridge.
The report adds that the release clause rises to £34 million beyond June, meaning that Thomas Tuchel’s team face a race against the clock when the market opens to acquire his services.
Jesus – a 45-time Mexico international – has largely operated as a right-sided midfielder this campaign but is also capable of playing as a right-back.
Elsewhere, Juventus are allegedly keen to strengthen their squad with the signing of Manchester City forward and Chelsea target Sergio Aguero.
The Argentina attacker has just over three months left to run on his existing deal at the Etihad Stadium, and there is a growing feeling that he’ll end his 10-year association with the Citizens in the summer.
