Chelsea determined to agree deal for 17-goals Serie A forward

Chelsea have enquired into landing Sassuolo and Italy attacker Domenico Berardi, according to a report in Italy.

The 26-year-old star impressed for his country at UEFA Euro 2020, grabbing two assists in the group stages on the Azzurri’s way to lifting the trophy after beating England in the final on penalties.

The winger has played his entire club career at Mapei Stadium since his first-team debut back in 2012, having famously rejected a move to Juventus in spite of being co-owned by the Serie A heavyweights between 2013 and 2015.

But Sportitalia claim that the west Londoners have made enquiries into Domenico’s availability while adding West Ham and Borussia Dortmund are also tracking the player.

Reports last week stated the Stamford Bridge outfit had failed with an £85 million offer to sign Federico Chiesa with Juventus reluctant to open talks over the attacker they had signed only last summer.

But the latest reports out of Italy now state the Champions League winners have turned their focus to Federico’s international team-mate Berardi, who has two years remaining on his Neroverdi contract.

Berardi netted 17 goals and laid on a further eight assists in 30 top-flight appearances for his team last season.

Serie A sides Fiorentina, Lazio and AC Milan have also shown an interest in Berardi, but reports suggest Domenico is more likely to leave the country should he depart this summer.
