Chelsea £88,500 a-week star on the verge to sign new contract

Chelsea are reportedly preparing to offer a new improved contract to English playmaker. Mason Mount.

When the academy graduate penned a five-year contract in July 2019, the 22-year-old star had not made his Premier League debut for West London giants.

However, the England international midfielder has since managed to found back of the net 17 times and provided 16 assists in 116 games, playing a vital role as Blues won the Champions League last year.

According to Goal, the London giants want to reward Mount for his rapid progression by handing him a new improved deal.

While the England international is tied to Stamford Bridge until the end of the 2023-24 campaign, Chelsea will want to avoid any transfer speculation regarding his future.

The club’s board will also want to ensure that Mount feels appreciated at a time they are negotiating fresh terms with several other first-team players.

Chelsea started the current Premier League season in fine form as they sit on top of the standing winning six games from eight in the Champions League group stage they are second behind Juventus.

Mount himself yet to return on goalscoring form as he hasn’t found back of the net in 10 games for the Blues.
