Ben Chilwell compared Chelsea summer signing to Harry Kane
Ben Chilwell has lavished praise on Timo Werner and thinks his Chelsea team-mate possesses similar qualities to top Premier League strikers Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy.
The west Londoners completed a £47.5 million deal to sign the attacker from RB Leipzig in the summer and Timo has hit the ground running with eight goals in his first 12 games for the club.
Timo has lightning-quick pace and can operate on the left wing and as a No.9 and, which gives Frank Lampard plenty of options in the final third.
And Chilwell feels the German star is already up there with the PL’s cream of the crop after his impressive start at Stamford Bridge.
‘I’d already say he’s up there with them two [Kane and Vardy] and he can definitely go on to be absolutely world-class for a long time for the next 10 years or so,’ Ben told Soccer AM.
‘I think when you look at his age and how prolific he is in front of goal, even now his start to Chelsea he’s scored a lot of goals already. Just in front of goal he’s so good.’
The defender pointed out Werner has a mix of Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy’s speed, and Tottenham Hotspur’s talisman Kane’s goalscoring ability.
‘He has similar characteristics to both Vards and Harry to be fair. In terms of running the channels and how quick he is it’s similar to Vards,’ he added.
‘With Harry his link-up play and is finishing is similar. He’s definitely in a category with them two.’
