Barcelona set to hijack Liverpool move for £91m-rated world-cup winning striker
Barcelona have reportedly joined the race to secure services of PSG winger Kylian Mbappe as they consider possible replacements for Lionel Messi who tried to depart from the Nou Camp in the last summer transfer window.
Real Madrid are believed to be leading the race for his services, while Juventus and Liverpool have also been linked, with the Italian giants reportedly lining up a blockbuster swap deal involving Mbappe and one of the best players of all time Cristiano Ronaldo.
Messi is believed to end his long time with the Spanish giants when his current deal expires at the end of this campaign, having reluctantly been made to remain at the club after pushing for an exit this summer.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winning forward has openly criticised the club’s board and will not open talks over an extension with the current hierarchy in place, leaving Manchester City as favourites to lure him at Etihad Stadium.
Marca claims that La Liga giants have now earmarked Mbappe as a possible replacement for Messi and they are ready to rival Liverpool for his services.
PSG could try to cash in on Mbappe next summer, although his £182.9m price tag could prove problematic for the Spanish giants struggling financially in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Some reports have claimed that the World Cup winning forward could be available for as little as £91m next summer.
