Barcelona set to hijack Arsenal move for in-form Dutch forward

La Liga giants, Barcelona have reportedly identified PSV Eindhoven attacker Donyell Malen as a surprise target when the January transfer window will be re-opened.

The Spanish giants missed out on securing the services of Lyon striker Memphis Depay to their ranks during the closing days of the summer window, effectively leaving Ronald Koeman a player short up front.

With Depay having less than a year left on his current deal, Barcelona are believed to make a return for the Netherlands international at the start of 2021.

However, according to reports in Spain, Ronald Koeman’s side are willing to switch their attention to Malen if Lyon are still not prepared to sell talented Dutch attacker.

While PSV may have little interest in parting ways with their key player, a lack of Champions League football this campaign may eventually force their hand.

The Gunners are also keeping tabs on the situation ahead of a potential big-money move for the next season’s transfer window.

Meanwhile, According to Sky in Italy and Guardian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are monitoring the current situation of RB Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, with an eye on future transfer markets.

Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, it is stated that Szoboszlai is on Arsenal’s wishlist but Aouar remains the number one target.

As first claimed by, Arsenal have monitored his progress at Salzburg for some time and even made contact with his agents as they searched for a potential replacement for Aaron Ramsey last year.
