Barcelona plotting move for £120,000 a-week Chelsea star
Barcelona have allegedly added Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso to their wishlist of transfer targets in that zone of the field.
The Spaniard’s Stamford Bridge career has been reignited under the German manager Thomas Tuchel, and the star has held down the left-back spot with first-choice Ben Chilwell recovering from knee surgery.
His time at Chelsea was apparently petering out under then-bossFrank Lampard, but the 31-year-old full-back has starred with four goals and five assists in 41 games across all tournaments this term.
Marcos’ contract with the capital club expires in June 2023, though, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that Blaugrana are keeping a close eye on the former Fiorentina man’s situation.
He adds that Alonso is one of a few left-backs under consideration by the Catalinas, with the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro, former academy player Alex Grimaldo and Tottenham Hotspur’s Sergio Reguilon also linked with transfers to Camp Nou.
The ex-Real Madrid youngster has totalled 28 goals and 22 assists in 207 matches for his team since 2016 and has lifted the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, UEFA Europa League, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup trophies with Chelsea.
