Barcelona enter the battle for Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin
The Catalan club are interested in signing Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin, according to reports. Spain international has been strongly linked with a £23m come back to Barcelona as the London club look to raise funds for incoming transfers. Blaugrana have enquired about the availability of Hector, who left Spain to join the Gunners as a youngster in 2011.
It is understood Barcelona will have to sell before submitting an official offer for Bellerin. Meanwhile, the London club have reportedly been in negotiations with PSG over the £30m sale of the 25-year-old defender. Arsenal need to raise cash as they seem to make big-money moves for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey and Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar.
Ghana international has a £45m release clause, which the London giants cannot currently afford, while the Les Gones value the 22-year-old playmaker at nearly £50m. The London giants have already been astute in their summer dealings by bringing in Willian Borges on a free transfer from Chelsea and LOSC Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes for £27m.
But a midfielder is next on the Spanish manager’s wish list with Thomas and Houssem heavily linked with moves to the London club. If the Spanish right-back was to leave the Emirates Stadium, Ainsley Maitland-Niles would be considered a ready-made replacement.
Ainsley impressed in Gunners FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs last month, which resulted in a senior England call-up and debut. Ainsley, who is capable of playing several positions, was an 87th-minute substitute in the Three Lions’ Nations League goalless draw against Denmark on Tuesday.
