Atletico Madrid in advanced talks with Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira

Atletico Madrid manager has reportedly made contact with Arsenal player Lucas Torreira, with La Liga giants interested in bringing the midfielder to the Spanish club on a loan deal. Uruguay international’s future at Arsenal is uncertain, with new manager Mikel Arteta looking to bolster his midfield before the transfer window closes.

Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar have been strongly linked with a move to the London club. As such, Arsenal are open to letting Torreira leave, with the ex-Sampdoria player reportedly attracting interest from Italian clubs Fiorentina and Torino.

La Liga giants are also interested in Lucas and have opened negotiations with Gunners over a move for the midfielder. The Spanish outlet reports that La Liga giants are initially looking to seal a loan deal for the Uruguayan midfielder, while coach Diego Simeone has personally contacted the Gunners man in a bid to convince him to move to La Liga.

The 24-year-old midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Emirates Stadium under Mikel Arteta and has not featured in the Spaniard’s matchday squad for either of the club’s first two PL games.  Uruguay international played 39 games for the London club last campaign, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

The London giants have reportedly already offered Alexandre Lacazette and Matteo Guendouzi to the Spanish club as a sweetener to acquire Partey from the Argentine manager’s side. However, La Liga giants have rejected Gunners approaches and are demanding £46m for the footballer.
