Arsenal urged to make approach for Norwich City defender

Kevin Campbell has urged Arsenal to land Emiliano Buendia and says the Norwich City man would be ‘perfect’ for Mikel Arteta’s team.

The Gunners have registered interest in signing Buendia, who has emerged as his side’s best player since joining the club from Getafe two years ago.

Arteta is believed to be hoping to add another creative player to his roster, with the Arsenal boss reluctant to offer a lifeline to Mesut Ozil, who looks set to depart either this month or in the summer.

Emiliano has emerged as a potential target for the Gunners and former Arsenal striker Campbell believes he’d be a ‘very clever signing’ for Arteta.

‘I think he would be a very clever signing,’ Kevin told Football Insider.

‘I like him. He has the qualities that Mikel Arteta is looking for in a player. Not only can he pick a pass, he can score and he works hard.

‘He has that energy which has been missing from the team for long periods of this season. He would fit what Arteta wants to do perfectly.’

The north Londoners beat Newcastle United 2-0 in the third round of the FA Cup last week and face Crystal Palace on Thursday evening.

In other news, Real Betis are allegedly set to do battle with the Serie A side Genoa for the signature of Arsenal misfit Sokratis.

The centre-half is expected to leave the Emirates Stadium in January after being left out of Mikel Arteta’s Premier League and Europa League squads for the 2020-21 term.
